Ghostpoet x Clash Magazine
Back in the summer of 2011 I took this portrait of Obara Ejimiwe aka Ghostpoet shortly before he was nominated for a Mercury Prize.
A year or so on and he's back in the studio again. I went to photograph him on a very chilly December evening in South London whilst he was finishing up his new album.

Transition
I haven't posted any updates in a while for a whole host of reasons, I took a break over summer, then took a break from social media after that and then I've been too busy to blog. Somehow after taking a break from social media I've ended up signing up to instagram and I'm really enjoying it. Follow me over on @sjbutt86.
I thought I'd get this thing going again with a few pics from a trip to the States to follow The Lumineers for a few days. First stop was Austin, Texas then we flew to New Orleans. Both were incredible but New Orleans was definitely my favourite, I'd love to go back again. I'll make sure to try some crocodile next time too. (Click on pics to enlarge)
Sunset at Atlanta Airport, we came here 3 times in 6 days, too much for my liking.
We had the best BBQ food ever in New Orleans. Local spot in the middle of the surburbs that was packed out on a Tuesday night, you could smell it from the end of the street.
Magazine Street, tons of great record and thrift stores on this street.
Simon hanging out by the Mississippi (pretty sure I spelt that properly)
The lobby at the Royal Sonesta Hotel on Bourbon St, New Orleans. I had a balcony on my room too.
I couldn't go to America without taking my SX-70 with me. Started experimenting with the new Impossible Project colour film, very happy to be shooting on this camera again.

Willis Earl Beal
Recently I headed over to XL recordings in West London to photograph one of their most recent signings via Hot Charity Records, Willis Earl Beal. Having seen the offer on his homepage for me to send him a letter and receive an illustration in return I was hoping Willis would draw a portrait of me while I photographed him but we ran out of time.
